Will’s comments about the album:

The previous album was called Opt Out and I think of it as a pop album even though they’re not all conventional pop songs. And so for the next phase I set out to keep the tempo down and rejected most of the fast tracks. It was made within a few months in 2017 and is the first album for years that was wholly recorded in the countryside. It’s also the first for a while that has no other artists on it. I wanted to keep it fairly simple and also decided the vocals would be more upfront. Getting a good vocal sound is a big thing when making music - for me that is a challenge as I’ve never been a confident engineer. If I listen to my older music my technical inadequacies are the hardest part to see beyond. And so, it wasn’t quite as simple as when I set out but it was also the easiest thing I’ve done, I refused to work on a song if it didn’t quickly come together. I didn’t want an album that was hard work.
