About
This is the oldest Esgazette album that is still available although there are a few earlier tracks in the archive. It began in Wales and was completed in Edinburgh and South West France.
The cover is a photo from the coast of Western Scotland (hence wearing coat and shoes on the beach). Although it is titled as ‘original soundtrack’ it has no connection to movies - the cover was designed as an imaginary poster for an indie film. The tracks were also meant to be cinematic, each in their own little world so there’s quite a lot of sound effects such as on ‘Don’t Listen Too Much’ which features an Orkney gale at the end. Each song was composed by setting a few rules or parameters to get going, it was a technical challenge on a very basic recording setup. There are eleven tracks, mostly songs and one instrumental (Anna in the Snow). The vocalist on several of the tracks is Katya, who appeared on several earlier recordings.
